Heidi Miller is awesome! I was so thrilled when she asked me to come be a part of the fun at the arts festival in Steamboat. We got to do an amazing aerial photoshoot (in the freezing cold!), perform, do workshops, and hang out around town doing aerial so much fun!

The First Rope Book is Here (June)
Creating the rope book has been an incredible experience. I can't wait for volume 2. Click on the title to read more about the journey of Volume 1 from Rain Anya's perspective (one of the collaborators of the project).
Beginning Fabric Teacher Training (May)
This was an incredible experience, completely changing the way I look at teacher trainings. I led the training with Julianna Hane and we couldn't have asked for a better group to start this journey with. The training was held at the Marsh Studio which was magical. Click on the title to read more.
Full Term Pregnant & Dancing (March)
Click on the title to check out my latest aerial photoshoot. This was the last aerial project prior to the birth of my son. After this will be a much needed maternity leave!
Born to Fly™ Teacher Training Program Officially Launches! (January)
After a rocky beta-test of the teacher training program in 2014, we are giving it a fresh go again! The last training I tried left me feeling really frustrated, but this time, I'm feeling much better, much more confident. Julianna Hane is helping me run the program and that has made all the difference. This allows me up to continue working on writing manuals, manage AerialDancing.com, have a baby and launch this awesome teacher training program all at the same time! So far, we've booked 3 aerial yoga teacher trainings and 1 aerial fabric training. The first two trainings that have already happened this year have been awesome ~ raving reviews!
I can't wait to attend the May training at the Marsh Studio (Aerial Fabric Level 1 Teacher Training). I live so close to Georgia yet have never been to the Marsh Studio! I love Susan Murphy - such wonderful energy - and I know that this is the best place to birth an award winning training program.
We have an entire website devoted to the new training program: www.borntoflyaerial.com. Check it out!

Christmas at Crowfield (December)
Had a wonderful time worshiping God through performing at my church at Christmas time. I am 6 months pregnant, and the song was about Mary giving praise to God. It was very fitting. Go here to watch the video and view pictures from the show.

Christmas Tour 2013
Got to hang with some awesome people for the creation of 2 shows. We created beautiful work in such a short amount of time. I love working with professionals who are not only awesome at their craft, but awesome at what they do! Among the awesome people I got to work: Fallon Burner, aerial extraordinaire, Brittany Walsh, hand-balancer (she shot a bow & arrow with her feet during intermission. Everyone LOVED it!), and Misty Rascon Smith, a sensational dancer. We all toured with Aerial Experience Productions and decided that we were the most easy-going group ever.

Born to Fly Productions Launches Video Library & More at AerialDancing.com
A project even bigger than the books is bringing the books to life through video. And we have done it! It was a huge investment, and we hope that the community gets behind it and gives support to it. While the main feature of the new site is the video library, there is also a ton of great things going on, such as event listings, studio listings, teacher directory, shop that includes other aerial dance resources, discussion pages, and even opportunities to post your own pictures and videos. We plan on being a very supportive online community, while continuing to work with great care and caution in what we do. Our first priority always remains to support teaching taking place live with live teachers and coaches.

Finished the Hoop Book!!! (January)
So glad to finally release this book. It is my new pride and joy! And the best part was getting to work with an amazing artist on the project. Julianna Hane co-authored this beautiful work of art, and it is an absolute treasure. Everything from the hundreds of pictures that are crisp and clear to the details and layout, this book was well thought-out, and is worth every penny you spend on it! Instead of paying $70 for a private lesson on lyra, buy this book. (But also take lessons from a live professional. It's not to say this completely replaces live lessons - it's only to say: for the cost of one lesson you get the details covered in about 50 lessons!)

Christmas Performance (December)
Crowfield Baptist Church in Goose Creek, SC. I worked with a new costume that my mom found at a thrift store. It has huge, wide legs, but actually worked. While not so pretty on the ground, it was unexpectedly gorgeous in the air.

Aerial Fabric Workshop: Overhead Arts (November)
New Bedford, MA
There's nothing like taking a break from Navy Officer Bootcamp than teaching an aerial fabric workshop! After being emotionally crushed, physically wiped out, and mentally torn-apart in the training grounds of Officer Development School Newport, RI, I so much enjoyed my escape into New Bedford, MA to work with some ladies on their fabric technique. Teresa Kochis is the owner of the studio, which is actually in her awesome live-work artist space. It reminded me a lot of my studio in Ojai, and I got really nostalgic while I was there. She is also small like me, and l really enjoyed connecting to her. Her students are very lucky to enjoy learning aerial dance in the beautiful space she has created to share with the community there.

Teaching Aerial Yoga Teacher Training: Cedar Rapids (October)
On the way to Naval Officer Torture-me-but-I-know-its-good-for-me camp, I had the pleasure of stoping off in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for some Aerial Yoga Teacher Training. Maria had gotten ahold of my manuals and when she originally asked me to do a teacher training, I hesitantly turned her down. Luckily, she pressed on and encouraged me to come. I am so glad she did. I got to meet the most amazing group of women. Four of them work together but separately, each with their own bodywork/Pilates companies out of the same space. Their chemistry with one another is inspiring. I feel like they would make good subjects for a sitcom actually, each had such dynamic character. I felt so honored teaching them my knowledge of aerial yoga. They desire, like many out there, to take their knowledge of Pilates and working with people's body mechanics, and use the fabric to go deeper with their clients. There is so much healing that can be done using the gift of flight, and these women are moving forward with purpose. Cedar Rapids needs these heros - helping to rebuild a city that still has yet to recover from the devastating effects of the flood of 2008.
Training Sunshine and Jen (Aug)
I came out of hiding (briefly) to teach a few lessons. Wow. What a crazy experience... teaching people who have already been exposed to my fabric theories through my books. I learned a lot about the power of my books as teaching tools, both what they give and what they lack...but some of that lack is a good thing because it's important to leave some of the fun stuff for in-person teaching. :)
Being Pregnant & Dancing (end of 2010 - 2011)
Being Pregnant helped me take a needed break from aerial dancing and return to my roots of dance - grounded modern dance. I have included a video of the performance I did while 7 months pregnant. It started out very similar to an aerial piece I do on barre - but as the months wore on and my belly grow, the aerial parts slowly got removed. You can see still see the aerial influence, but only if you know what you're looking for.
