Artisphere 2013 (Greenville, South Carolina)
Clayton, Jordan, Julianna and I had an awesome weekend of performing at the Artisphere Festival in Greenville, SC this year. (Matthew took the picture you see here on the left.) This year we brought more performers, more pieces, and we had better weather so we actually got to perform all the days we planned to! Yay! We were blessed with beautiful sunshine (although the sunshine did a little too much blessing to my poor shoulders which are now peeling). The wind added so much flare to our pieces! I love seeing the fabric fly around. Check this out in the video - its just gorgeous!
This year, my goal was to be fun fun fun in my performing. In the video, you'll notice that everyone looks calm and pretty and I look spastic. That's because my pieces were MEGA high energy, at least that's what I was going for. I choreographed a fabric piece to the song Sail by AWOLNATION. I wish I would have got my final performance on video, because it was by far my best performance of the weekend! The audience loved it, and it certainly helped that they loved the song. When it came on, I hear a group of teenage girls in the front row shriek, "OMG! It's Sail!"
Julianna debuted a new costume this year. She found it discounted online and thought, what the heck?! It worked PERFECTLY with both her hoop piece and her fabric piece, not to mention the fact that our group somehow ended up with a purple theme this year. I just love her costume - you'll see it in the video. It's the one with the purple wrappings on one leg and one arm.
Jordan and Clayton recently created a piece on what they call "the fabreze." Its a double stacked trapeze with fabric instead of ropes. They have a duet on it that is simply CHARMING! You'll get to see pieces of it in the video and of course, in the pictures below as well. They also did another duet that was another crowd pleaser, but we didn't get any video of it. :( You'll just have to come see us next year to see all the cool things we do!
